my vision for 2020

Happy New Year!

With each new year I like to write down goals I wish to accomplish in the new year.

This year I am trying something a little different.

I have decided to create a vision board with the things I wish to manifest in my life this new year.

I have a printed copy of my vision board on my nightstand so I see it everyday.

I figured I should also put this out into the universe as well.

Maybe it will inspire you to create a vision board yourself and maybe just keep me accountable a little in the process :)

Whats on my vision board?!?

Healthy eating is a top priority for me. I would like to say that we eat health about 80% of the time but our down fall would be our snack intake. This year I really want to focus on eating healthier snacks. Instead of chocolate chip muffins or cheez-it crackers, I want to consume more fruits and veggies. This is a family goal that I think we will definitely be able to accomplish.

Save money. I think this is pretty much every persons goal every year! I work part-time and my husband's income is basically our main form of survival. So my plan is to put have of my paycheck into savings. I am also going to try to avoid unnecessary purchases at Target.

New cars for the hubby and I. So I don't really need a new car but a more gas efficient car would be nice(Even though I want an BMW X5, we are leaning towards a Tesla). My hubby on the other hand is in desperate need of a new car. So for this year our top priority is to get him into a new car. He has had his eye on a particular car and to make this happen is at the top of my list.

Weekly Family Dinners. We have talked about this for months and this year is the year I am determined to make sure these happen. The idea of having a weekly dinner with my family sounds easy enough but with crazy schedules it doesn't always happen. Our game plan is to have them either on Saturday or Sunday night and make it a pot luck or a restaurant night.

Trips to New York and Hawaii. These are big ticket items on my vision board. Expensive adventures but something we really want to do as a family. So I decided to put out into the universe :) Planting seeds that will hopefully sprout into reality.

Last but not least is to read at least one book a month. This is a goal that will help give me more "me time". I enjoy reading and have a long list of recommendations I cant wait to tackle!

I can't wait to see what this year has in store for me and I plan on taking every opportunity that comes my way.

Cheers to a new year and new adventures!

Goals

Last year I jot down my goals for the new year on the second so why not do the same this year! Like I've said before I don't care for resolutions but I am all for setting goals!

Last year I set about seven goals for myself (see those here) and to be 100% honest I only successfully accomplished two of them! For those wondering, the two goals accomplished were keeping a plant alive for more than two weeks and throwing myself a Harry Potter themed birthday party!

My new goals for this year will definitely include those not accomplished last year because I'm no quitter ;)

So here they are...My new goals for 2018!

1) Go on at least one kid free date night each month!
- This was a goal I set last year that we let slip threw the cracks. I am happy to report that we have at least two dates officially planned! So we are definitely off to a great start.

2) Clean up every night.
- No matter how tired I may be, I am going to make it a point to not go to sleep with a messy house. I notice the difference when I wake up and have a messy kitchen my mornings always take longer and I become agitated. When I wake up to a clean kitchen everything seems to go flawlessly. Basically clean up every night before bed.

3) Get dressed!
- No more being lazy and throwing on a sweater over the shirt I slept in the night before. I put so much effort to make my kids look presentable but don't do the same for myself. I promise myself to put in the effort! I'm not saying I'll have a pin-worthy outfit on each day but at least look like I made the effort. I want my girls to see their mommy looking and feeling good!

4) Keep a tidy car.
- My poor car doesn't get the love it deserves. I leave cups in there and leave sweater after sweater piled up on the empty seats. I know damn well this goal will be something my husband will appreciate too. A clean car will make for an easier school drop off thats for sure!

5) Jot down important memories.
- Specifically the stories my grandma shares with me! My grandma is 96 years old and is the sharpest woman I know. She is so incredibly full of life and I love listening to her tell me stories of her and my grandfather. Stories of when they first met and when they traveled to the United States from Peru in the 60s. I never want to forget those stories so I purchased a notebook that I will jot down these stories she shares with me.

6) Want vs Need
- I am quite the impulse shopper. Is it a terrible habit to have? I am sure there are worse habits I could have but lets be honest my wallet probably disagrees. Before I make a purchase I am going to ask myself if it is a want or a need. I hope I will see our savings account increase this year!

7) Go back to school!
- I have an AA in Visual Communications for FIDM. This year I want to return to school and get my BA in marketing or early childhood education. Heck maybe I'll get a degree in both! This year I want to challenge myself mentally. It will be a year of growth and purpose. Almost like I am discovering what I want to be when I grow up!

8) Begin planning our Walt Disney World Vacation!!
- This might be a long shot but I want to throw it out into the universe! My daughter and heck even I have been wanting to travel down to Florida and visit Walt Disney World!! It comes up in conversation a lot in our home and although I think financially we aren't in a position to travel right at this moment...it is definitely something I am excited to save up for!

2018 you are going to be an amazing year I can just feel it!

Goals prepared to be crushed!

goals

Image result for goals quote
Two days into the new year and I am finally ready to jot down my goals for 2017.

Using the term "goal" instead of resolutions just makes it feel more attainable in my opinion if that makes sense. In the past I have made a list of goals for each new year and have successfully completed about 80% of my goals. So the word goal is pretty much here to stay.

Now that we got the goals vs resolutions out of the way, here is the list!

1. Go on at least one kid free date with the hubby a month.
- and we already have a wish list of new locations we can't wait to check out yay I am so excited for this goal!

- I am a big fan of the movie and just recently found out that it was based on a book (yep apparently I've been living under a rock).

3. Take more photos with me actually in them.
- I've become a pro at avoiding photos because "oh I don't have makeup on" or "I haven't done my hair" but in years from now I am gonna kick myself in the butt for it.

4. Dress up
- I need to give my sweats a break and actually wear all the clothes I am hoarding in my closet.

5. Keep a plant alive for more than two weeks.
- I have been wanting to start a vegetable or herb garden for the longest time. However every time I attempt this my little seed sprouts I get ridiculously excited and than I completely forget about. I have decided to start with something easy. Perhaps an herb I can use often. If you have an recommendations seriously pass it my way!

6. Learn to do my own makeup
- And I don't mean by watching a YouTube tutorial because even though I love them and could watch all day for the life of me I can never get it right.

and last but not least

7. Throw a Harry Potter themed party for my 30th birthday in June!
- Yes you absolutely read that correctly and it literally makes me giddy just thinking about it!

Cheers to a new year and new goals!

five on friday: living room style

We moved into our home in August of 2014 and we have yet to really make this house of ours really feel like home. When we moved in I was pregnant with Charlotte and had no desire to decorate a house. Not to mention that the hubby and I couldn't really agree on what look we were going for. Since I am the type of person that rather have nothing up then putting things up just for the hell of it. Brings us to my big goal for 2016. Making our house feel like home!

Our living room has been the room that has given us the most grief, so obviously it is the first room I want to tackle in this decorating adventure.

So for this Five on Friday I have decided to share my top five living room style inspirations!

Here is what our living room looked like on move in day!

Now tell me, which inspiration do you think would work best in our living room? I am leaning towards the first inspiration but love the colors in the fifth inspiration. Ahh I swear I will make a decision soon enough!

reading now: harry potter

In my last post I mentioned that a goal of mine for the new year was to read the entire Harry Potter series. I know what you must be thinking, "girlfriend you are about 19 years late to the party".  I have seen the first movie and thought it was great but never saw any of the other films and came nowhere near close to reading the books.

So what brought on this new found interest in HP? Well, after seeing advertisements for the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter set to open this April at Universal Studios Hollywood, I couldn't help but get caught up in the excitement.

After jumping on board the Harry Potter fan bandwagon I decided I better read all the books before I binge watch all the movies.

AND...you better believe I am already planning on making my way to the park this summer!

I bought my first Harry Potter book this weekend and sadly, am having the hardest time getting into it! I blame it on the fact that I saw the movie before reading the book so I am comparing every single detail.

Wish me luck! I am determined to read all these books before April!

Any Harry Potter fans out there? If so, I am curious what house do you think you would be in? I am most certain I would be in Hufflepuff. Even though I really want to be in Gryffindor!
Yep never thought I'd ever be saying such a thing but oh well ;)

Happy Monday!
