returning to work

This post has been sitting in my drafts for weeks now but I am ready to share it.

Let me give you a little back story first...

Back in June I was scrolling thru Indeed looking at the different job postings in my area. I wasn't seriously looking for work but decided to give a few interesting jobs more attention. I applied to a few job postings and the next day I got a response and the day after that I found myself in an interview. I left the interview so excited and wanting this job because it had been the best interview I had ever had!

Fast forward to when this post was written...the night before my first day!

My girls are asleep and I am incredibly nervous for what tomorrow will bring! You see tomorrow is my first day of work. I have not worked in several years. Completely devoting my time to my girls and husband.

I am pretty much feeling every emotion possible.

One moment I am so excited and then I feel tremendous amounts of guilt.

I will be pretty much be working all week for 4-6 hours a day. The schedule itself is not bad at all, its actually one of the reasons I accepted the job.
However, it means that my hubby will be watching the kiddos for a portion of the day and when school starts I won't be at pick up.

Enter mom guilt!
As excited as I am for myself and the opportunities this job will give me.

I am also experiencing mom guilt to the max.

How will this affect my girls?
Will they miss me?
Will I miss them even more?
Will my husband be able to watch them and work at the same time when I am away?
Will I miss a lot of school events and will that scar my kid for life?

I wrote pros and cons lists and to be honest they left me more confused.

But what I do know is that I am doing this for my girls, they are my WHY.
It all boils down to them.

I want this job and mentally feel like I need this job.

I need time to myself and making money at the same time doesn't hurt one bit.

Tomorrow is a big day for all of us and now I really need to get to bed!

A Blog Year in Review

With a new year on the horizon, I love taking the time to look back and see what the most popular posts were for the year!

Here are the top 5 posts of 2017...

| one|

Such a special memory of my daughter's 4th birthday party! I remember planning this party like it was yesterday! Callee was such a fan of Finding Nemo and I remember having such a difficult time finding themed decorations. I had to make my own decorations and so glad I did :) Its comical to think how hard it was to find cuter decorations and than a couple months later Finding Dory came out and decorations were popping up left and right!

This rididcously easy project was such a fun gift to make for my daughter! And the best part is that she still uses it daily! The gift that keeps giving! Bonus when she's done using it whenever that day comes I can repurpose it as a coffee table!

| three |

This post goes hand in hand with my number one post! When I discovered how hard it was to find the decorations I was looking for I decided to make my own and share it with others in the same predicament!

| four |

One of my favorite paper goods I created! When The Little Mermaid was re-released on DVD/BluRay I was so excited to have a movie night with the hubby and little one! I had a million things going on that day but did that stop me from hanging streamers over our dining table...nope! These printables are still such a popular post on Pinterest too!

Charlotte's second birthday party was so fun to plan and who doesn't love Minnie & Mickey! This party was filled with lots of DIY and great Etsy finds! It was a great celebration for the youngest member of our family!

I hope you enjoyed this blog year in review!

In the spirit of the new year and the fact that I am trying my best to avoid putting away our Christmas decorations, I thought it would be fun to share 17 fun/random facts about myself.

In no particular order here we go...

1. I need to have the TV on or else I can't fall asleep.

2. I talk to my sister at least once a day.

3. Whenever I got sick as a little girl I would ask my mom to rent the movie "Big girls don't cry, they get even" to make me feel better.

4. I've seen every episode of Friends, HIMYM and Last Man Standing multiple times.

5. I love hearing ghost stories but refuse to watch scary movies.

6. I never really cared for the movie of The Notebook but absolutely loved the book.

7. In August of 2015 I had an emergency appendix removal and the pain of that was ten times worse than labor ever was for me.

8. I share a birthday with Lionel Richie and fictional character Edward Cullen.

9. I am not a fan of dishwashers. I much rather wash dishes the old fashion way.

10. As a little girl I would cry because I felt bad for fish because they would never get to go for walks like dogs do.

11. I always stock up on festive napkins when I find them on clearance at Target! The cheapest I've ever paid is about 40 cents! I literally have napkins for every holiday and various themes on hand at all times.

12. I cried ugly tears when One Tree Hill ended and still maintain that is one of the best shows ever!

13. I once bumped into an actor that had been on One Tree Hill for a short time. When I talked to him I started by calling him by his characters name. He was less than thrilled.

14. While on vacation I attend the senior citizen water aerobics class with my grandma. And I enjoy every single second of it.

15. I've won over 10 phone in contests with KiisFM by being caller 102. A day before my 23rd birthday I won $1000 and I've won tons of concert tickets. The secret to winning is to keep calling and calling.

16. I went thru a mafia phase. I read tons and tons of books including The Mafia for dummies!

17. I am still very much afraid of the dark and I refuse to walk passed a mirror in the dark!

And there is my list :)
